Coconut Milk Smoothie

Dima and I started Detox, following Hagar Shefer’s App “Detox 21”, and  naturally the first thing that we have tried was the daily breakfast on the menu. I have wrote about the importance of breakfast in this post and I think that since I was released from the army, I began to have an breakfast regularly. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I have written about it before. Back in Israel my breakfast always included a slice of whole bread, with cheese\ avocado\ tahini\ butter – accompanied by a bunch of colorful vegetables.
If There Is No Bread- Drink a Smoothie
I have recently discovered that the whole wheat bread which I buy in health stores here, contains preservatives. I was so naive to keep it in the freezer, so it wouldn’t go bad in the terrible heat of Arizona.
Of course, as they say in Theta, everything is accurate in life, and when I discovered that fact about the bread, I also discovered the Detox and the healthiest, prefect smoothie. The first week of the Detox opens with a satisfying, healthy breakfast. Dima does not like milk, and even the sight of milk disgusts him, so I thought he wouldn’t even try this smoothie. Clearly- I was wrong.
The first time I ever tasted coconut milk was a decade ago. While I was in the army, I went to a sleep over a friend’s house, whose mother is British and the father is Italian- and so the food fits. I came back home and told my mom about the coconut milk, and how delicious it was. Mother waved it off saying coconut milk was total fat. That was it. Cause that’s what I exactly needed, I with my quick tendency to gain fat, even faster than the wind; that rich, fat, tasty coconut milk I thought to myself “I wouldn’t touch it ever again”
Coconut Milk Smoothie
More Than Just Fat
Coconut milk is a product obtained from crushing and filtering coconut. Coconut milk has the advantage of having a deliciously rich dairy flavor, so as a Jew that keeps Kosher, and therefore, cannot mix dairy with meat or chicken, coconut milk is a major player and a fantastic substitute for cream and milk in all kind of recipes. Its caloric value is high, 240 ml contains more than 500 calories, just like a Hannuca donut, but unlike a donut, an empty carbohydrate (trying to convince myself all year long that I do not like it), the coconut milk contains calcium and phosphorus, Iron, vitamins from the vitamin B  group and magnesium. Magnesium plays a role in the metabolism of other minerals, aids to a normal functioning of the heart, the blood vessels, the nerves, the muscles and the intestines.
