Say Goodbye To AZ

Arizona is amazing, we were blessed to meet some amazing people and visit extraordinary places, which we would never visit  if we had not lived  there. Everyone in Israel talks about the Grand Canyon, Vegas, LA, but I would have never thought to visit Sedona or Flagstaff.
I would not have visited San Diego if I had not happened to be around – and retrospectively , today I can say that is a MUST destination.
The universe sends presents. Always. You do not have to learn Theta Healing to believe that.
We travel here in the area, we have been to each site several times already. And we felt that a change had to be made. We weren’t sure what change was going to be , returning  to Israel perhaps? After all, the longing  really gnaws at us every day.
The Universe always listens, we just need to ask  what we need and  our wish will be fulfilled.
One day Dima got a phone call regarding a wonderful job offer. Where? From the hottest state to the coldest state, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Before I’m saying final goodbye to AZ, I was thinking of writing about random and not very famous trials worth hiking through, and it really does not matter if you’re a wayfarer, and Arizona is just on your way or if you’re planning to travel in AZ- these are really nice hikes with special nature that  are less popular .

Watson Lake

Distance: 5 miles
Type of route: loop

The Hike and reserve are adjacent to Prescott, and there are possibilities for Kayaking , fishing and camping.
Its length is about 5 miles, the track itself is circular, it actually begins as a boring plane surface, but at some point there is a sideway turn – with a sign for a more challenging trail.

This route is not easy, but the view is stunning. I recommend wearing  a pair of mountain shoes (if you do not have ones , I recommend buying a pair in the Northface outlet that I’ve written about  here– it really helped  walking on the stones more easily ;do not forget  to take with you a lot of water,a hat and sunscreen – even when it’s not really hot, the Arizona sun really burns your skin.

I don’t recommend bringing with  you a pet to the hike (if you plan to). Lady, a dog of a friend  that was staying with us on the same weekend joined us, and the route was not easy for her. Unfortunately, we did not know that, and towards the end of the trail she just stopped every few minutes and lay down. We felt really bad and of course this ruined our hike.

The reserve is open during the summer from 7 am to 10 pm, and in the winter, from 7 am to sunset.
You should not arrive in summer because it is really hot. There is an entrance fee of $ 3 per vehicle.

Horton Creek

Distance: 6.7 miles
Type of route: out and back
Say Goodbye to AZ- Horton Creek
A beautiful, easy route, there is not much to expand on. It is not hard, fun and also suitable for young children. The route is located along a stream that ends with a waterfall. We stopped for a picnic by the stream and then continued to the waterfall.

Tonto Natural Bridge

Distance: 1.25 miles
Type of route: Loop

This trail is about 10 miles from Payson. In fact, the ride from our area (Phoenix east  valley  to that place, is longer than the trail itself (about a two- hour drive).
Entrance fee to the reserve is $ 7 per person. It is  usually open from 8 am to 4 pm.
The route is circular, and a waterfall (if you really can call a trickle of water a waterfall) is reached, and it is possible to pass through it.

The part that goes under the waterfall is smooth, and quite challenging.
When we traveled  with my mom, we turned back when we got to the waterfall and because it’s a circular route, we reached the front of the waterfall from a more moderate path. The entire route is about 2 km long and the rises are quite steep in both directions.

So I guess it was my last post about  Arizona for the near future, although I’m sure we will visit it some time in the future because , we had  made some good friends there, and we have not even seen the antelope yet.
